Recently graduated from Drake University with a BFA in Directing (concentration in musical theatre and costume design), Colin is a freelance costume designer and director based in the midwest.
Colin's career in theatre began as a performer working in community theatre in his hometown of Rockford Illinois, where he also began to develop makeup and hair skills. Soon he became a freelance makeup artist working in the Rockford area doing film, theatre, and photo work.
Colin worked as a founding member of the Theatre Education program at The Rockford Boys and Girls Club in 2013. He acted as the Artistic Director, and directed and taught the program for three years. Moving to Des Moines, Iowa full time in 2016 Colin worked for various companies in the greater Des Moines area and developed his skills as a costume designer and technician. In the summer of 2017, Colin began his career as a Costume Designer when he was hired for Timberlake Playhouse's summer season. Colin worked as a designer for three of the productions and worked as a stitcher and draper for the other 6 productions. There Colin also learned more and more about wig styling and design and continued to expand that knowledge after leaving Timberlake.
In the summer of 2018 after graduation Colin became the resident Costume Designer and Costume Shop Manager at Thunder Bay Theatre. Currently Colin is working for Thunder Bay and finding work for offseason in the Chicago Land area.
Colin's mission as an artist involves raising the voices of marginalized and under privileged groups of people through accurate and prideful representation through his work. As a Hard Of Hearing and LGBTQ+ artist, and supporter of the BLM and Feminist movements, Colin believes everyone deserves accurate and fair representation in the arts.
